Named for its location north of Massachusetts Avenue, NoMa is an emerging neighborhood with modern developments rising from old industrial lots, and very popular among residents for several reasons: transportation options, its upcoming nightlife, shops and restaurants, its yearly cultural or musical events and its public wi-fi. There is so much packed in a small space including post offices, the Union Market and other amenities within walking distance. The addition of the New York Ave–Florida Ave Metro, which is now NoMa-Gallaudet U station, ushered in a flood of development into NoMa over the course of the last several years, and there’s been no turning back.
Because it’s trendy and new, it has a tight-knit community and provides a different feel than the classic downtown D.C. scene. The housing is being quickly developed here and offers plenty of options to those looking to make this vibrant neighborhood their new home.
